The American Dental Association recognizes nine dental fields. The dentists in these fields had more than the four years dental education from the DMD and DDS degrees. In other words these are specializations. The first is the dental public health field in which the dentist is into health policies and social policies relating to oral care. Then there is the endodontics which is a specialization on diagnosis, treatment and even prevention of oral diseases.
